Unpacking Made Easy
After a long day of moving, the last thing most of us want to do is face a mountain of boxes. It does not have to be daunting, though. There is a simple trick that actually helps keep the unpacking process from feeling overwhelming: label your boxes by room and unpack in an organized order.
Start With a Plan
It might sound obvious, but this little bit of planning goes a long way.
1. Start with the Bedroom
You’ll want somewhere to crash after a long day. Get your bed set up first so you have a place to rest, having your own space to recharge makes the rest of the move feel less stressful.
2. Next Step: The Bathroom
Unpacking bathroom basics means you’ll be able to shower, brush your teeth, and start the next day fresh. Having these basics ready right away makes all the difference on night one.
3. After That, the Kitchen
Even if it’s just getting out the essentials, having access to your kitchen helps things feel more normal. It’s also a great way to fuel yourself while you finish the rest of the unpacking and makes it so you’re not relying on takeout every night.
Bonus Tip: Label Like You Mean It
Do whatever works for you, whether it’s color-coding or writing the room name on every box. It makes it easier for movers, and future you, to put things where they belong, and helps you stay focused and prioritized.
