Ohio Intrastate Movers

Moving to a new home doesn’t always mean leaving Ohio. An intrastate move can take you several hours from your current home, even though you’re staying in the same state.

Berger Allied Moving & Storage – Cleveland provides residential intrastate moving services for households relocating throughout Ohio. Whether you’re moving from Cleveland to Columbus, Cincinnati, Toledo, Dayton, another part of Northeast Ohio, or elsewhere in the state, Berger Cleveland can coordinate the transportation and additional moving services you need.

Moving Within Ohio

An intrastate move can take you considerably farther than a typical move across town. That distance changes how you need to plan the move.

With a move nearby, making an extra trip back to your old home for something you left behind may be inconvenient but manageable. When your new home is two or three hours away, multiple trips become much less practical. Packing, loading, transportation, and the timing of your move need to be coordinated so that your belongings are ready to make the trip when you are.

You may be relocating for work, moving closer to family, downsizing to a new home, or simply starting somewhere new. Whatever the reason, Berger Cleveland can build your moving plan around your origin, destination, schedule, and the level of assistance you need.

Local Move or Intrastate Move?

Both local and intrastate moves can take place entirely within Ohio, but they aren’t necessarily planned the same way.

If you’re moving within Cleveland or to a nearby community, our local moving services may be the appropriate place to start.

If you’re moving farther across Ohio, your relocation may be handled as an intrastate move. Your relocation consultant can determine how your move should be classified based on your origin and destination.

If your new home is outside Ohio, you’ll instead need an interstate move. Moving household goods across state lines involves additional regulatory and transportation considerations that don’t apply in the same way to a move that remains entirely within Ohio. Learn more about Berger Cleveland’s interstate moving services if your move will take you to another state.

Intrastate Moving Services

Your Ohio move can be planned around the amount of assistance you need. Some households prefer to handle most of their own preparation, while others want help with packing, storage, and other parts of the move.

Berger Cleveland can coordinate services such as packing, loading, transportation, unloading, and managed storage as part of your intrastate move.

Packing and Unpacking

You can pack your household yourself, have our team handle the packing, or choose professional assistance for selected rooms and belongings.

Our packing and unpacking services include full and partial packing options. Specialty packing or crating can also be incorporated when appropriate for particular belongings.

If you’re handling some or all of the packing yourself, professional moving boxes and packing materials are available to customers as part of a scheduled Berger Allied move. Discuss your packing needs and available supplies with your relocation consultant during your moving consultation.

Storage Between Homes

Your moving dates may not line up perfectly. You might need to leave your current home before the new one is available, or your plans may change while the move is underway.

Berger Cleveland can coordinate managed storage when your belongings cannot go directly from one Ohio home to the next.

Short-term storage is available for temporary needs such as a gap between moving dates. If your belongings need to remain stored for an extended period, long-term storage is also available.

Planning a Move Across Ohio

The farther you’re moving, the more important it becomes to plan for the time between leaving your current home and settling into the next one.

Consider when you need to leave your Cleveland-area residence, when you’ll have access to your new home, how you and your family will travel to the destination, and what you’ll need to keep with you during the transition.

If you’re moving several hours away, you may also need to coordinate work schedules, school changes, pets, utilities, address changes, and other arrangements at both ends of the move.

Our Cleveland moving checklist can help you organize many of these tasks in the weeks leading up to moving day.

How Your Ohio Intrastate Move Works

Start With a Moving Consultation

Your relocation consultant will gather information about your current home, your destination in Ohio, preferred moving dates, household belongings, and any additional services you may need.

This is also a good time to identify fragile, oversized, or specialty belongings that may require additional planning.

Build Your Moving Plan

Once we understand the details of your move, your relocation consultant can determine the services needed and prepare your moving estimate.

Your plan may include loading, transportation, and unloading, or you may add professional packing, specialty-item preparation, managed storage, or other appropriate services.

Access at both homes is also an important part of planning. Let your relocation consultant know about stairs, elevators, loading docks, parking restrictions, gated entrances, building move-in or move-out requirements, or other conditions that could affect loading or delivery. If a moving truck cannot safely or reasonably get close enough to a residence, a smaller vehicle may be needed to shuttle belongings between the home and the moving truck.

Identifying these conditions before moving day helps your team plan the equipment, access, and timing needed at both ends of your Ohio move.

Prepare for Moving Day

Complete any packing you’re handling yourself and keep important documents, medications, keys, valuables, chargers, and other essentials separate from the belongings being transported.

If your new home won’t be ready for immediate delivery, make sure any necessary storage arrangements are incorporated into your moving plan ahead of time.

Move Into Your New Ohio Home

On moving day, your household belongings are loaded and transported according to your moving plan.

At your destination, the moving crew unloads your belongings and places furniture in the appropriate rooms. If unpacking services are included in your moving plan, the crew can also assist with the portions of your home covered by that service.
